“To touch the surface is to stir the depths” Deane Juhan
Today, aromatherapy is one of the most popular of all complementary therapies, offering a wide range of highly effective treatments to both the acute and chronic stages of illness and disease. At the same time, regular use of aromatherapy treatments and home-use products can help to strengthen the immune system, thereby establishing a preventative approach to overall health.
One of the reasons that aromatherapy has been so hugely successful is because it uses a holistic approach, whereby the aromatherapist takes into account a persons medical history, emotional condition, general health and lifestyle before planning a course of treatment. The whole person is treated – not just the symptoms of an illness – and this is in direct opposition to the modern trend of just treating the presented condition.
It has long been known that stress accounts for a staggering amount of illness in modern society, and aromatherapy offers one of the finest ways of combating the ravages of stress without having to resort to drugs which can be habit forming and damaging to your health. This is yet another reason that aromatherapists believe taking an holistic approach with aromatherapy promotes positive physical and mental balance.
In a Fascial Unwinding session we will start with a postural assessment both in standing and on the couch. During this assessment we also look for where the body draws us to, this can help guide us as to where to begin the treatment.
Fascial Unwinding can assist the body in releasing held traumas and tension, this could be emotional and/or physical. We can also help clear energy blockages in the body, again from trauma.
Fascial Unwinding is a very light touch, hands on technique, but again with it comes great depth, as Deane Juhan mentions in his book ‘Job’s Body’, “to touch the surface is to stir the depths”. Unwinding the tissue can help to create a better flow of fluid through the body, after all we are mostly made of fluid. It can also help to restore misalignment, ease pain, stress and tension in the body.
It can also help to release deeply held emotional trauma, so even though the touch is light the affect can be quite profound.
Indian Head Massage is an ancient therapeutic treatment that has been practiced in India for thousands of years. Indian Head Massage focuses on your head, neck and shoulders and was originally used to improve scalp and hair condition. It is a deep massage, using a variety of pressure and techniques, including circular massage strokes on your scalp, deep tissue work on your shoulders, and stretching the neck.

What is DEEP OSCILLATION®?
Deep Oscillation is a gentle, relaxing vibration working through skin, connective tissue, subcutaneous fat, muscles, blood and lymph vessels to a clinically proven depth of 8cm.

As with massage, patients will need to undress for treatment.
Oncology massage can be a great way to help you reconnect to yourself and give you some much needed support and an overall sense of wellbeing both emotionally and physically. It offers a light approach that is non-invasive but at the same time has depth that can aid relaxation, encourage better sleep and help boost the immune system. It can also help to lessen the side effects of the treatment as well as of the disease itself.
An oncology massage session is tailored exactly to your needs depending on what stage of the journey you are on.
